26+2 Yoga (26 postures and 2 breathing exercises) refers to the traditional Gosh Yoga sequence that emphasizes the physical aspects of yoga. This sequence is designed to systematically work through the entire body, stimulating the organs, glands, and nervous system with the goal of promoting mental and emotional well-being through practice.
The postures are typically held for a set amount of time, and the sequence is practiced in a heated room to promote sweating and detoxification.
The 26 postures include standing poses, seated poses, backbends, forward bends, and twists, and are designed to:
- Improve flexibility and balance
- Strengthen muscles
- Improve circulation and cardiovascular health
- Enhance respiratory and immune function
- Reduce stress and improve mental clarity
Guidance for each pose is provided throughout the 26&2 practice to help anyone new to the practice learn how to enter, hold and exit the pose, as well as to guide experienced practitioners to a stronger practice.
